How we've helped Attend Services
Attend Services is a business just started by Louise, who lives near Redruth. Her business provides grave-side visits for people who may live locally but are not able to get out and about, and for relatives who live further afield.
Louise started her business after helping her elderly neighbours who could no longer get to their family graves. This service is especially relevant for the Cornish, who spread around the globe when the mining industry in the southwest diminished from the mid-nineteenth century onwards. For those who grew up in Cornwall but now live elsewhere in the UK and only get back for a yearly visit, Louise hopes this service will bring the comfort that someone can look after the place where their relatives are buried.
Louise visits church yards and cemeteries across Cornwall with fresh flowers or tokens of remembrance such as painted stones. She takes before and after pictures and provides a short overview of the visit to every customer.
Louise was always interested in churches and graveyards which has developed into a passion for local history. She investigates the past lives of uncelebrated local people from across the County and aims to bring their stories to life with her other venture Explore My Story.
It feels great to come to a single point and feel I am getting the benefit of other people’s experience
How we helped
Louise met with Connector Matt in March 2021. She talked through her business and plans just as she was starting to trade. She had just completed a new website where customers can order flowers or stones directly online, so was looking for the next steps to take this forward.
Louise knew she needed support with marketing to identify who might want to buy her services and how best to target them. Matt pointed her in the direction of Digital Peninsula Network for their range of support and training in social media and online marketing and she hopes to start these very soon.
