How we've helped Plexnetic
Business overview
Plexnetic was established in Lostwithiel in 2021 by Director Perry Cooper specialising in bespoke resin casting and encapsulation solutions ensuring robust, high-voltage protection for electrical components.
Perry got involved in the industry around 20 years ago as an engineer. As his experience grew over the years, he decided it was time to set up a business of his own attracting his own local customers something he is proud of in the niche world of resin casting.
Looking back to 2021 when the business first started, they created a purpose-built unit fitted out with vacuum casting and mixing equipment so that their products could match client expectations. They also ensured their workshops were ESD-protected to handle sensitive electronics and remain compliant.
Once they were settled and waiting for work to come in, Perry looked around online for possible grants and business support within Cornwall when they discovered The Growth Hub.
The Growth Hub has given me the opportunity to stop feeling so alone and start feeling part of the business community.”
How we helped
Perry said: “Although I had experience of running a business, it certainly filled in a lot of the blanks in terms of the grey areas, the financial side and things like that which I didn’t fully understand.”
“We are a small business, we’ve got a part-time employee that helps when I’m really busy, but other than that I’m fully engaged within the business. I’m either working the processes or doing paperwork and administration and it eats your time. The Growth Hub has given me the opportunity to stop feeling so alone and start feeling part of the business community.”
Perry prides his reputation on delivering high quality, precision and performance at Plexnetic where they have a ‘right first time’ approach to working.
He said: “We have a concept to completion approach. At every stage, we have got control over what’s going on. It reduces lead times, it lowers costs, and it gives us more flexibility so we can speed jobs up or slow them down as necessary.”
Now settled in, The Growth Hub got back in touch with Perry to see if there was a way to further help Plexnetic. It was then that Perry engaged with The Growth Hub in their quest to better market the business and put them in a stronger position to obtain more business.
For Plexnetic’s marketing, Perry was put in touch with Jessica from The Growth Hub to have a one-to-one meeting about the business and its goals. Together they formulated a plan which now sees Perry issuing a bi-monthly email marketing campaign, with a growing database, to keep potential customers up to date with Plexnetic’s service offering.
He was also directed to Cornwall Chamber of Commerce which has opened him up to a world of networking through events and breakfast meetings. He is now able to build his client base even further and connect with local businesses face-to-face. The Growth Hub also directed Perry to grant funding which helped him to buy a lathe machine to expand his equipment and offer more to his clients.
“Without doing start up support from Outset initially and without engaging and going further with The Growth Hub, I would still be clueless. There wouldn’t be a plan, there wouldn’t be an email marketing campaign, there wouldn’t be this opportunity to start networking myself.”
“I would absolutely recommend working with The Growth Hub. They have a host of knowledge and support they can offer. Again, without going through The Growth Hub, I wouldn’t have been able to get a grant for one of my pieces of equipment either. Get yourself involved, get in touch with them and speak to them.”
Plexnetic continues to grow as well as build its customer portfolio as it establishes itself in the world of resin casting.
