GrowthFest Celebrates Business Success
Hundreds of local businesses and the movers and shakers of Cornwall business community recently joined us at GrowthFest to celebrate local business and the success of the Growth Hub project.
Since May 2016 we have been working with 2,000 businesses up and down the county and just a few took part in the event, showcasing their products and services as suppliers as well as exhibitors. Everything from the cutting edge and innovative tech to artisan gin and really big bubbles were seen in action as a live demonstration of the diversity and creativity of the businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
“The Growth Hub has been a trail blazing project,” comments Stu Anderson, Growth Hub Operations Director. “This event showcased some of the fantastic businesses that we have worked with, many of whom are the hidden gems within our communities. As a team we were also proud to announce that we have been given the green light for three more years of funding to continue our role as the central hub for all business support in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly”
The event was delivered in partnership with the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, who launched Cornwall Work and Health Beacon Project, the first of its kind in the UK. Sarah Newton, Minister for Work Health and Disability, asked local businesses for their support in creating opportunities for local people with disabilities to help tackle skills shortages.
GrowthFest rounded off the day with an inspirational talk from Jo Fairley, co-founder of Green and Black’s Chocolate. Jo spoke about the lessons that she has learnt from taking her business from kitchen table to multi-million pound reality, but she still said that she wished the Growth Hub was around when she was starting up!
More photos from the event are available here, and if you have a business and have not yet been in touch with the Growth Hub please do give us a call on 01209 708660 to see how we can help you work smarter and grow.
