My career has always been centred around communications of one sort or another. I spent many years as a Graphic Designer, always relishing the challenge of delivering a wide variety of messages with the best visual and copy impact for the client. Having taken a few years out to raise my young family I returned to the world of work by starting my own board game design and publishing company which I still enjoy running part time alongside working with the Growth Hub.
I have moved around the country a fair bit with time in Wales, Oxford, Brighton, Guildford and Derby but since moving to Cornwall I can't imagine ever wanting to live anywhere else!
Career highlight...Successfully crowdfunding the Pirates of Penryn board game has to be one of the best moments of my working life so far. After 3 years of hard graft and many business lessons learned, I always get a little boost of pride when I see it in shop windows!
Most people don't know this but I'm a closet... Drummer! Having played kit during my teenage I recently returned to my love of hitting stuff with sticks by joining DakaDoum - Cornwall’s greatest Samba band (in our opinion anyhow!)
If I could give start-up's one piece of advice...Get in touch with the Growth Hub! I was telling people that long before I was lucky enough to join the team here. The help that I accessed as a start-up really made a huge difference to the success of my project.
