Larissa Ellis-Jones

Digital Developer

I’ve always been creative since I could hold a pencil. Wherever I got an opportunity to draw out a storyboard of my own cartoon show I would. Often at the expense of my French textbooks or Maths homework, which didn’t always go down well with the teachers.

Fast forward a few years I took my love for communication, creativity, media and doodling on French Textbooks and studied at Plymouth University, mixing my dream of living by the coast with the digital arts.

After Uni I moved to Cornwall for my first job as a content creator, from there I’ve worked for a holiday company, a global healthcare technology company and set up my own stuff on the side helping businesses with their marketing and media needs.

Now I proudly work for the Growth Hub always looking for the next best thing to learn and try out, whilst, enjoying the Cornish lifestyle by the coast, with my partner and cat in our super snug village singing along at sea shanty’s and trying the local ales at smugglers festivals.

My perfect day involves: A sunny crisp wintery Sunday, getting wrapped up and going for a big walk and explore somewhere along the coast, having a stop off in a cosy pub on route. Then coming back to a roast cooking with apple crumble desert. The fire on and cosying down to watch a film with the cat curled round for cuddles. Oh! And if my partners not on FIFA - a quick game on Jurassic Park to finish the day!

Business hero: Cringe alert! – but I have two, and they are my Mum and Dad. They both own their own businesses and have been successfully running them for the last 10 years or so. I’m proud of them both for turning their dreams into real successes despite not having university degrees or millions of pounds lying around. I think they are real honest achievers.

Most people don't know this but I'm a closet: Thespian! – I love the dramatic arts; it’s where most of my memories revolve, spending years watching my uncle in several roles. My family, my partner and his family are all involved with am dram in some shape or form, so it’s in my DNA to be involved both on and off stage. My grandad even made it onto screen with his acting for a bit, which he loves to boast about, in particular all the big names he has met. - I’m yet to do a musical number though, it’s definitely on the list!
