Cornwall businesses urged to have their say on Cornwall Council’s budget

By Cornwall Council - 07th October 2020

Cornwall’s businesses are urged to have their say on a draft budget for 2021/22 which prioritises investment in Cornwall’s recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic in the face of unprecedented financial uncertainty as well as critical frontline services and the most vulnerable residents.

Cornwall Council cabinet agreed that the draft budget should be made available for public consultation at the meeting last month (16 September). It is now available for people to comment on either online or in writing.

Cornwall Council deputy leader Cllr Adam Paynter said: “This budget includes some really hard choices we have had to make while we face these current financial demands. Our highest priority will always be our residents, especially those who are most vulnerable and have been most affected by the pandemic. This budget reflects that, making sure the money is prioritised to those services.

“It’s very important now that we hear back from residents about what they think. This is a budget for the people of Cornwall so we need to make sure that we hear from as many of you as possible to make sure we have got it right.”

The consultation will close on 14 December 2020.
