Digital expert brings Facebook funded training to Cornwall

By Piece of Cake Communications - 14th November 2019

A Cornish marketer has undergone rigorous training to qualify as a Facebook certified trainer delivering free workshops funded by the social media giant.

The Digital Skills Training Programme (DSTP) is being rolled out nationwide by digital experts BuzzStart Academy and Freeformers on behalf of Facebook.

Suzie, who owns the full-service agency Piece of Cake Communications, will be bringing the first session to Truro on Monday, December 9.

“We’re kicking off with social marketing, helping people to understand how easy it is to run Facebook ads. We’ll also be discussing audiences and how to target them,” said Suzie.

The workshop will be held at Truro’s Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre, which has kindly donated use of its conference space to run the free training. The session will start at 9.30am and finish by 12pm.

Booking is an essential requirement from Facebook, which will provide a certificate of attendee and knowledge at the end of the morning.

There are two ways to book – either via Eventbrite or Facebook:

Eventbrite - https://facebookdigitalskillstruro9thdecember.eventbrite.co.uk

Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/events/558214058312244/.

The DSTP is offering six workshops, including social marketing, innovation, cyber security, data, AI and web presence. Attendees learn skills such as designing their own apps, websites and running Facebook ads.

Suzie has currently delivered training at several locations across the South West and Wales, after undergoing an intensive four-stage interview and quality assurance procedure.

“The recruitment process was intense as Facebook has high expectations of the people delivering the workshops it is funding. You have to be at an elite standard,” she said.

“The aspiration of the training is to open doors and opportunities to anyone armed with these new skills and understanding. These are fantastic taster sessions that get people trying out ideas and experiences they might otherwise be nervous about tackling.”

Sessions are fast paced and practical, which means you’ll get hands on experience of trying things out for yourself.
