Full chefs line-up for Truro Food Festival

By Truro Food Festival - 19th August 2019

Truro Food Festival is delighted to share the full line up of their Chef’s Theatre, presented by St Austell Brewery. Audiences will be able to learn from the best with cooking demonstrations by top chefs from Truro and beyond.

Chefs Jack Stein and Irini Tzortzoglu (winner of MasterChef 2019) head a line-up featuring a 50/50 split of male and female chefs. There’s plenty of great food right on Truro’s doorstep and crowd-pleasing Cornish classics pack the menu at the Heron Inn in Malpas on the outskirts of the city. Chef-proprietor Nick Hemming won’t have to go far to bring the best of the Tresillian River from the riverside to the demo stage.

With a mission to equip people of all ages with the skills to confidently prepare homemade dishes, Maria Taylor of Truro School Cookery has an infectious passion for food and learning. Her demos aim to give very practical tips and rekindle an audience’s love of cooking food to share.

Fifteen Head Chef Adam Banks brings creative flair from the famous Fifteen, Cornwall menu. His take on proper Italian cooking, using only the very best ingredients, always makes for a great demonstration and plenty of take-home tips. Keen bakers can pick up more than a few tricks from husband and wife team Christine and Phil Jensen of Peboryon cakes, whilst lovers of spicy middle eastern cuisines will love Ondine Hartgroves, owner of Cornish company Jasmine Spice and a previous MasterChef contestant.

And last but by no means least, Amy Nixon of Punk Thai brings her own spin on traditional Thai dishes with exciting menus that draw on her vast experience of both eastern and western cuisine.

As well as the main Chef’s Demo Stage, there will also be a secondary stage on Boscawen Street featuring foodie talks in the mornings and free live music in the afternoons. There’s also a Cornish Food Hall packed with the best local produce and artisan traders, Gourmet Street Food stalls on Lemon Quay and Boscawen Street and a city-wide Restaurant Trail in partnership with Cornish Orchards.

Lee Bater, Festival Organiser said: “This is a celebration of food across the whole of Truro and there will also be foodie happenings across the city with shops, restaurants and cafes introducing their own workshops, special offers and events. These include a speciality coffee masterclass at Prime, Truro, foraging walks with The Cornwall Food Foundation and free chocolate tasting workshops at Hotel Chocolat – you can find full details on our website.”

Daytime content at Truro Food Festival is free to attend with tickets only required for the evening music sessions taking place in the pop-up Truronian venue on Lemon Quay.
