Holiday cottage agency wins a Cornwall Tourism Award

By Forever Cornwall - 23rd November 2022

Forever Cornwall, an independent Falmouth-based holiday cottage agency, has handed the ‘Tourism Leadership award’ at the prestigious Cornwall Tourism Awards.

The Awards event, which was held at Truro Cathedral on Thursday 17th November, saw more than 300 guests celebrate the best of Cornwall’s tourism industry.

The ‘Tourism Leadership award’, sponsored by Quality in Tourism, was in a special category only announced on the night and was given to Forever Cornwall in recognition of its commitment to championing and supporting the environment and local communities.

Forever Cornwall, founded by Phil and Maria Gendall in 2010, is a small holiday letting agency with properties all around the Cornish coast. Its mission is to inspire better holidays by helping people connect with Cornwall in a more responsible way, thus having a positive impact on the natural environment and local communities.

The business works in a unique way with all property owners, guests and the agency contributing to a social and environmental fund. This money has planted over 60,000 trees in Africa and Cornwall to offset the carbon produced by travel and holidays, helping to fight climate change. The fund also assists in the regeneration of the natural environment whilst supporting local communities. In addition, Forever Cornwall prioritise limiting the impact of holiday cottages on community housing stock by applying careful criteria when accepting new properties into its portfolio.

Co-founder and MD, Phil Gendall, explains: “Tourism can either have a negative impact on climate change and social inequity, or it can be used as a force for good.

"We’re on a mission to inspire better holidays in this unique place we call home: better for our guests and our owners, and for the environment and local communities, on which we all depend.

"We love to help guests connect with Cornwall through the best of ultra-local local food and culture, low-impact activities and inspiring adventures, taking home a little piece of Cornwall in the heart and giving back at the same time.”
