An employer initiative launches its first fully-funded initiative of the kind, which focuses on teaching a range of hospitality skills before a guaranteed interview for a summer hospitality job.

Hospitality Table Cornwall’s ‘Host.’ Summer Project is recruiting twelve students to take part in a three-day course at Truro College from 29 May – 3 June, covering all aspects of hospitality from team building and professional standard customer service to kitchen and bar/barista skills; all of which will prepare them for an interview with one of the project’s partners.

Working with the likes of Nancarrow Farm, The Victoria Inn, Sam’s in the City and Appletons, the interviews will be the stepping stone for a potential summer job with more possible prospects.

Inspirational industry professional Elly Owen will also be joining the course as a consultant to teach Customer Service and Front of House to the students in addition to Yallah Coffee. 

The fully-funded venture is run by the ESF Part-funded project Hospitality Table Cornwall which is delivered by the Ofsted-outstanding Truro and Penwith College. The project is led solely by like-minded employers from the Cornish Hospitality sector with an aim to create initiatives that increase recruitment, raise aspirations for quality careers and develop industry-relevant learning pathways to improve skills, productivity and quality.
