What is a Skills Review?

Our independent, impartial and expert team will put your business under the skills microscope to help drive improvements through new skills and training. We are amidst a new way of working, so are you equipped with the skills required to thrive?
Our process begins with a Skills Review, but what does that mean and what does it involve?
There are four simple stages:
1. Let’s talk
A Skills Review is an informal chat between yourself and one of our expert Connectors so that we can get to know you and your company. We will look at where you currently are, where you want to be and identify the skills that you, and your team, need to take you there.
2. Research
It’s then over to us. Using our expert knowledge of the training options available in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly we will create a bespoke training plan for your company and suggest specific courses or workshops that fulfil your training needs.
3. Introductions
When you are ready we will personally introduce you to the relevant training providers. If you want to do some of the training that we have suggested now but hold off on other bits of it, that’s absolutely fine. You set the pace. We’ll never push you into training that you’re not comfortable with.
4. Time to upskill
With the introductions made you can get on with the exciting bit and make the learning happen.

Imagine the headache and time drain of having to work out which course or workshop is best for you. We do all the leg work so you don’t have to. You can also be sure that the time you invest in the training itself will be well spent. We’re skills experts so we’ll only point you in the direction of training that is right for you.

Time is money so the savings will start as soon as we take the lengthy research out of your hands. We’ll also help you to save money through improved business efficiencies. When you upskill you get better or faster at something which is going to get your bottom line smiling.
Who will conduct the Skills Review?
We have a team of Connectors who between them cover the entire breadth of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. They have bags of experience in working with businesses like you and are experts in the skills and training arena so you’re in safe hands.
How long will it take?
We suggest allowing around two hours but the time it takes to complete a Skills Review varies. And the same goes with the process as a whole. We aim to create your bespoke training plan within two weeks of the review and in some cases businesses are starting a piece of training within days. In others, the journey spans months, especially when the training is a degree course or apprenticeship.
Whatever your journey, you can be sure that we will be with you every step of the way.
Who will you refer me to?
We work with all training providers, from universities and colleges to private training consultants. We are completely independent and unbiased. We are not driven by sales targets or commission so we will refer you to the option that best suits your needs.

Anything and everything that your business needs to operate and do things better. From digital marketing and sales, to leadership and finance, we’ve got it covered.
Can you fund training?
We don’t provide funding to cover the cost of training but we will help you to find the most cost-efficient solution. If funded or part-funded training that meets your needs exists, we’ll know about it and will help you to access it.
Is there a cost for your service?
No, our service is 100% free to businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The only investment is a couple of hours of your time.
