Adding content to the site
Content guidelines
The audience and the topic
Most visitors to our website are from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, so what are they interested in? They want to hear about what’s going on from local business and how regional and national issues could affect them.
Newsworthy - No sales pitches please!
If it is news it must be something recent, and of interest to the local business community.
You can share your news, successes or reflections in a news story or blog. However, this shouldn’t just be an advertisement for your product or service.
We will only publish blogs that are interesting or useful to people in the business community. We may not publish content which we consider not to have a news angle.
We may edit parts of your press release to make it more relevant and may out parts which consider to be too ‘salesy’.
Format
We will be looking for a minimum of 250 words for a news story – but not War and Peace!
Typically, a press release for news will have an introduction, the body of the article and a quote from a named person related to the story.
Don’t post multiple links back to your domain or external domains as it could look like spam.
A single external link at the end of the article should be enough. We may remove external links in the piece if we do not consider them relevant to the content.
Be honest. Give credit. Check your facts, quotations and cite your sources if required.
Media
Please ensure you have the permission of the copyright owner(s) for all images you upload to the site.
We will endeavour to use the image you have supplied in the news story, however due to formatting requirements on the site we may replace this with a copy-free image of our choosing.
- File types: png gif jpg jpeg.
- Maximum image size: 32 MB
- Banner images should be at least 1800 pixels wide and 500 pixels tall
