Cornish boat trip company seeks to educate and entertain

By Padstow Sealife Safaris - 22nd February 2021

A Cornish boat trip company has launched a brilliant way of keeping children entertained during lockdown; by offering a real life encounter with North Cornwall’s incredible sea life.

Padstow Sealife Safaris has created an online quiz aimed at school-aged children to encourage them to learn more about the waters all around the North Cornish coast. With questions all about the rich wildlife which can be found right here on our shores, the quiz aims to encourage an early love of nature and respect for our beautiful coastline.

Padstow Sealife Safaris is a local family-run business that has been taking tourists and locals alike on boat trips since 2009. Founder of the company, Ian Kitto, says, “Offering the chance to win a real life trip around the coast with the promise of seeing seals, dolphins, porpoises (and even sunfish or the elusive basking shark during the summer months) is exactly the excitement our kids need right now. This is why we decided to launch the sea life quiz - not only to encourage a connection with nature, but to give three lucky families a huge boost and something to look forward to once lockdown restrictions loosen.”

Cornwall has one of the most varied habitats and marine ecosystems in the whole of the UK. Padstow Sealife Safaris offers a unique view of the hidden headlands and caves in Cornwall’s beautiful coastline whilst getting up close to nature.

The expert wildlife guides aboard each boat trip log each wildlife sighting and report back to Cornwall Wildlife Trust which contributes towards their conservation research. Collecting this data doesn’t only mean keeping track of the numbers but contributes to finding long term solutions to the problems our cornish wildlife and sea life face.

Parents, carers and teachers can encourage their children to engage with the wonders on our shores by entering the quiz here.
