Cornish tech companies celebrate success at Tech South West Awards

By Software Cornwall - 29th November 2021

Software Cornwall joined tech clusters and businesses for the Tech South West Awards 2021.

Last night (Nov 25), the Software Cornwall team joined tech leaders, businesses and entrepreneurs to celebrate the successes from the region for the annual Tech South West Awards, which took place at stunning new venue, the Market Hall in Plymouth!

There were 18 categories in total and judges assessed over 200 entries before awarding winners at a sparkling and exciting ceremony last night.

Software Cornwall's Niki Davies co-hosted the awards alongside startup pitch coach, Martin Barnes. No less than 27 awards were announced by category sponsors throughout the evening!

Cornwall-based businesses did brilliantly, with ARC Marine winning both the Innovation Award and the Marine Tech Award! Truro-based RouteNote won the Tech Company of the Year Award (revenue over £5m) and Software Cornwall member Feritech Global won the International Success Award!

Individuals were honoured as well, with Mike Barritt, co-founder and Director of Software Cornwall being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to the southwest tech community including creating the international Falmouth-based conference, Agile on the Beach, which has just celebrated its tenth year!

Each tech cluster was invited to select a winner from their county for the Tech Cluster Award, with Software Cornwall choosing from local entries. This was a truly tough decision and after much deliberation, RouteNote was announced as the winner with Hiyield being highly commended!

Niki Davies, Head of Marketing for Software Cornwall said "It was a real honour to be invited to judge two categories and co-host this year's Tech South West Awards with Martin Barnes. Since working for Software Cornwall, I have been continually blown away by the welcoming and collaborative tech community that stretches from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly all the way through to Swindon and everywhere in between.

The ceremony was a chance to celebrate individuals and innovations from across the region and fly the flag for the southwest and it was brilliant to see Cornish businesses do so well. Congratulation to all award winners and those that were highly commended!"

A full list of award winners can be found on the Tech South West website.
