Entries Invited for 2020/21 Cornwall Tourism Awards

By Cornwall Tourism Awards - 06th March 2020

The 2020/21 Cornwall Tourism Awards have opened for entry and businesses from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are invited to start their submissions.

The Awards, now in their 19th year, cover both Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, offering business the chance to win not just locally, but to progress on to the regional South West awards and – for matching categories – the national VisitEngland awards.

Last year’s entrants describe the benefits of entering the awards as increasing bookings, generating PR, helping with staff morale, retention and recruitment, as well as getting free feedback on how their business could be improved. Categories cover the full range of tourism-related businesses including pubs, cafes and restaurants as well as accommodation, attractions and events.  There are also generic categories for ‘unsung heroes’, leadership, innovation, new businesses, dog friendly, accessibility, wildlife friendly and sustainability.

Awards organiser Robin Barker says: “It’s always great to hear from entrants what a positive change the awards can bring.  To help everyone submit their best entry we are running a series of workshops across the South West and I look forward to seeing many businesses there.  Our top tip is to start preparing now, giving yourself time to consider all categories and liaising with colleagues before clicking the submit button.”

The awards are free to enter as they are supported by many sponsors. Deborah Heather, Director of headline sponsors Quality in Tourism, says: Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are outstanding destinations, attracting millions of tourists each year. Tourism operators here are world leading in their pursuit of continuous improvement, setting the pace of innovation, customer service and best practice. Quality in Tourism are delighted to be headline sponsor for the Cornwall Tourism Awards once again and wish everyone the best of luck.”

Head of VisitCornwall, Malcolm Bell, says: “The Cornwall Tourism awards enable the best from our Cornish tourism offer to showcase how good they really are and, most importantly, for the owners, managers and staff to gain the recognition they so rightly deserve.”

Full details of the awards are at www.cornwalltourismawards.org.uk  All entries must be submitted online by 26 April but with Easter coming up it is recommended that businesses start as soon as possible.

It’s always great to hear from entrants what a positive change the awards can bring.
