Falmouth’s Moor means business!

By Falmouth Business Improvement District - 05th June 2020

Based on the recent news and guidelines Falmouth will be opening up the Market on The Moor as of Saturday the 6th June!

Not only this, but the space will now be the option for all businesses to use the Falmouth Moor any day of the week if they are unable to trade currently due to the restrictions within their premises. This will be free of charge to existing businesses (on a first come first served basis) within Falmouth and could be used as a drop off/collection point or outdoor trading space.

The layout will be altered to ensure social distancing is adhered to, as well as expecting the following from both market traders and business traders to ensure the safety of both staff and the public:

• Queue management.

• Stall layout to be safe and enable customers to adhere to the social distance guidelines.

• Any cash taken must be cleaned properly.

• PPE worn

• Sanitiser or wipes available for staff and public.

• Increase your cleaning of stock and your area.

• Contactless payment is now more important than ever and will mean people feel safer buying things from your stall.

“We understand this may not be suitable to everyone trading outside but with the weather being mild and restrictions still in place we are looking at all possibilities to get the town up and running again” says Richard Gates, Falmouth Town Manager.

“Falmouth Town Council and Falmouth BID have also been working to assist with the reopening of businesses and have also created a business toolkit outlining opening procedures, health and safety, marketing tips, useful links, and posters for business use. You will find this on the falmouth.co.uk website” says Emma Webster, Events and Marketing Coordinator for the Falmouth Town Team.

The Moor is at the heart of Falmouth, as are the businesses on the high street, so making use of this outdoor space seems like a no brainer given the current times.

Please get in touch with [email protected] if you want to book a market pitch or are a business wanting to trade outside on The Moor.
