Indie Games Studio to Release Debut Game on Nintendo Switch

By Launchpad & Studio Somewhere - 12th April 2021

A Launchpad indie games studio is releasing its first game on the Nintendo Switch.

Studio Somewhere, founded by Cameron Shackleton, Adam Westerman and Ryan Thornhill Smith, has been approved by Nintendo to release Bonito Days on the Nintendo Switch.

Cameron said: “We are very happy to be given the opportunity to release Bonito Days on the Nintendo Switch. When we started designing Bonito Days we did so with the Switch in mind so getting the green-light from Nintendo gives us confidence that we understand the platform and its market.

“Outside of Bonito Days this is a huge confidence boost for the company as we have been given access to development information about the Switch. To us, this shows that Nintendo is not only satisfied with our work but also us, as a company, since they are willing to share information.”

Cameron added: “Bonito Days is a multiplayer game with a chill vibe, most multiplayer games are super competitive, but Bonito Days is different. While players can mess with each other and compete the main focus is to create a relaxing mood where a group of friends can get together and hangout.

“It creates this atmosphere with its city pop soundtrack and accompanying art style that will blast players back to chill vibes of 80s Japan. Helping in this is the free-flowing momentum based gliding system with a nice gentle learning curve so anyone can understand and go on to master.”

Studio Somewhere hope to release the game in July 2021.

To us, this shows that Nintendo is not only satisfied with our work but also us, as a company, since they are willing to share information.
