National award for Gilbert & Goode

The awards, held on 8 November at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, recognise high standards and best practice within the built environment.

The event brought together more than 500 construction professionals from across the UK. Following a series of regional heats, Gilbert & Goode was competing against nine other regional winners for the national title, having been crowned the best in the South West in June.

Gilbert & Goode was recognised for commitment to its people and high standards within the building industry.

Judges from the award organiser, Constructing Excellence, said: “The key to Gilbert & Goode’s success is its people. Many members of staff have been employed by the company since the beginning of their career. It has low staff turnover, with high productivity and morale, and nurtures all staff, including apprentices, through mentoring, training – including mental health, and project management.”

This year, Gilbert & Goode became the first company in the world to achieve ISO 18404 accreditation for Lean and Six Sigma, in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board. The scheme ensures continuous improvement of staff and a consistent approach to building practice. It also achieved an Investors in People silver award.

The judges continued: “Gilbert & Goode’s regular involvement in the Chartered Institute of Building, Cornwall Construction Training Group, and Constructing Excellence means it’s at the forefront of best practice in the industry.”

We’re thrilled to have been recognised nationally by our industry peers. This award is a testament to the hard work of the whole team, and tops off a really successful year for the business.
