Newquay BID launches new brand ‘Love NQY’

By Newquay BID and Love Newquay - 06th March 2024

Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) has launched its new Love Newquay brand.

Love Newquay has been designed to promote the area's diverse and eclectic business landscape year-round to millions of residents and visitors nationally and internationally.

The rebranded Love Newquay organisation now has a consumer-facing website, ongoing social media work and investment, a new set of brand tools and a targeted strategic comms campaign with a mix of traditional media and digital PR.

The website, social media platforms, outgoing communications, PR and marketing strategies will all feature updated creative itineraries for all genres of visitors, business listings, events & news, photography and videography.

Newquay BID began in 2011 and is now in its third term. One of the main initial objectives of the BID was to change consumer perceptions of the resort, and to drive inbound footfall, across a number of target demographics, right across the calendar year.

Not long after BID’s inception, the Love NQY social media channels were created – with an objective of being consumer-facing, and attractive to those target markets. The original Newquay/Newquay BID branding was designed to be non-corporate and in fitting with the vibrant resort that was changing and evolving to attract new holidaymaker and resident target markets. However, that brand has now outlived its time.

Across the past decade, Newquay has changed immeasurably, and as a result of the ongoing PR, marketing and social media efforts of the BID, the original perceptions of Newquay have transformed completely.

Newquay was the most searched for location on Right Move during the pandemic, and Newquay’s cross-market appeal has blossomed significantly with the ongoing investment of hoteliers, developers and entrepreneurs right across the resort.

Mark Warren, Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) and Love NQY manager, said: “There is an ongoing positive evolution of Cornwall’s most ‘grown up’ resort and it feels that the time is right for a complete rebrand of Newquay BID and a reharnessing of the potential of the brand ‘Love Newquay’ across multiple markets.

"We are confident that the new iteration of Love Newquay, and our targeted new brand communication tools and campaigns will optimise our future-facing local, national and international footfall-driving ambitions for Newquay.”

Owners of Newquay’s newest bar and restaurant, The Clover Club, Charlie Hester and Callum Philp said: “Newquay is a really exciting place to be in business right now. The town has matured in recent years and the influx of different visitor demographics reflects this.

"We are personally really excited by the new destination branding via Love Newquay – it is much needed and mirrors Newquay's wide allure. The Clover Club is eager to be at the heart of this transformation, providing an unforgettable experience in a sophisticated setting.”

The brand will be a consumer face of Newquay BID and sister brand to Newquay’s official tourist information centre, Visit Newquay. It is in collaboration with a number of key partners including Visit Newquay, Experience Newquay and Cornwall Airport Newquay.

Over the past 10+ years, Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) has established itself as an integral catalyst, a constant business and community support provider and a key driver for new businesses relocating to the town. The not-for-profit organisation is also a vital body providing ongoing powerful local, regional and national advertising, media, digital communications, PR and marketing campaigns for Newquay.
