Newquay Businesses Get Set for Google Growth

By Newquay Business Improvement District - 15th March 2021

The next of Newquay Business Improvement District’s FREE upskilling sessions is set to take place on Monday 22nd March 2021 at 2pm. Open to all Newquay BID member businesses, the 1.5-hour workshop, entitled ‘Grow Your Newquay Business with Google’ will be presented by founding director of Marwick Marketing, Chris Thomson. Participants of this session will learn how to identify ways to improve their website for search engines such as Google and how best to generate business growth.

Marwick Marketing remains one of the fastest growing companies in Western Canada, and has now expanded its operations to the UK, having very recently opened a new office in Newquay.  A Premier Google Partner Agency, one of only 3% of agencies in Europe and North America awarded this optimum status, Marwick is now one of only two companies across the South West with this critical qualification and experience.

Chris Thomson previously lived in Newquay for 13 years, setting up Errant Surf School and a number of other successful businesses before meeting his Canadian wife, Theresa, in the town.  The two moved over to Canada in 2012 when Chris set up Marwick Marketing, which flourished over there, providing digital business and profit building strategies and implementation for a wide range of companies across various sectors in and around British Columbia.

This unique 1.5-hour long workshop which has been organised by Newquay BID as part of a three-part series of upskilling sessions, is suitable for all BID levy-paying members regardless of industry. The objective of the session is to give Newquay businesses tips on how to effectively grow their business with Google, how to find and research high-quality keywords and discover free tools to help them improve their digital marketing efforts.

Founding director of Marwick Marketing, Chris Thomson said, “I have had several successful Newquay-based businesses so I have first-hand experience of how brilliant but also challenging running a business in the town can be. As an agency, we have proven expert Google Ads expertise and client revenue growth and we’re happy to share some of our secrets, to demystify the acronyms and make it much easier for Newquay businesses to understand how best to drive success.”

Chris continued, “It is fantastic to be back in Cornwall for the long run, Newquay is such a special place to me and my family and I am delighted to have been asked to run this session for Newquay-based businesses. There are so many companies doing really interesting things here, but they just need help to get to the next level, without it being too painful. That’s what we do with Marwick.”

Carla-Marie Jones, Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) Manager, said, “The pandemic has actually created a wealth of opportunities for businesses keen to build their digital propositions and over the past year, we’ve definitely seen many businesses pivot their propositions to operate more in the digital sphere. Despite this, the online marketplace is a competitive place to be so it’s important to learn how to cut through the noise and stand out. That’s why this workshop will be useful for members who are keen to grow their business with Google.”

Carla continued, ‘’We want to ensure Newquay businesses have year-round access to as much knowledge and development opportunities, so they can continue to shine and lead the way long into the future. We are keen to hear from you about any future topics that you believe your business would benefit from over the coming months. Please do keep talking and let us know your ideas. We really want you to benefit from these and as always, we are here to help. Keep an eye on our social media channels to see the future sessions.”
