The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site has worked in partnership with Newquay-based digital agency, Buzz Interactive to produce a brand-new cutting-edge website. The website www.cornishmining.org.uk will goes live on December 17th 2020.
The pioneering new website will function as a user-friendly and inspirational digital resource for people all over the world to explore and learn about Cornwall and West Devon’s Mining Heritage virtually. The current Covid-19 situation alongside the Cornwall and West Devon’s Mining Heritage Site’s aspirations to support environmental growth and reduction in carbon emissions, has inspired the team to focus on accessibility and inclusivity from anywhere in the world without the need to travel.
Buzz Interactive achieved the contract to deliver this project, batting off stiff competition from applicants from all over the world as part of an extensive procurement process. The company’s passionate and innovative bid shone through from the very start of the process, despite the interviews having to be carried out virtually due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
The entire project has been carried out virtually, despite both the Cornwall and West Devon’s Mining Heritage Site team and Buzz being based in Cornwall. From contract signing to the very first kick off meeting, to design discussions, unbelievably the teams have yet to meet in person.
Managing Director of Buzz Interactive, Lindsey Axten said of the project, “The working relationship on this project, despite needing to be completely remote, has been a joy from the start - not only do we have wonderful creative concepts to work with from design79, another Cornwall-based company, we’ve also built up a fantastic rapport with the client team. They have been receptive to our ideas and suggestions along the way and it’s been a pleasure to bring their vision for this new website to life”
Julian German Chairman of the CMWHS Partnership Board said, “At a time when our Cornish and West Devon communities and workers are becoming increasingly accustomed to working remotely, alongside the unprecedented Covid-19 Pandemic where people are utilising technology to allow us connection and contact both personally and professionally; we are proud that this project enables people from all over the world to engage with our Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Cornwall, with its’ firm foundation of digital and creative companies, continues to demonstrate we are well placed to grow this aspect of our economy in an increasingly digital world.”
The new website will include a number of shiny new features which will be announced over the upcoming weeks. One such feature will be a specific member’s area giving supporters the chance to donate to support the WHS team’s work and have access to exclusive online content.
