The next generation of Cornish gin: Rattled not Stirred!

By Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm - 24th February 2020

One of Cornwall’s leading drinks producers and creators of award-winning Rattler Cyder is bursting onto 2020’s gin scene with an inventive take on traditional gin.

Brought to you by Healey brothers Joe and Sam, ‘Rattler Cornish Gin’ embraces its Rattler roots to the fullest. Establishing a distinctive place on Cornwall’s gin scene, it is set to be the next generation of gin distillation.

A gin but not as you know it…

Distilled from scratch in Cornwall’s oldest distillery and in true Rattler style, this gin truly stands out. Naturally, the process starts with the same zingy apples that give Cornwall’s iconic Rattler Cyder its crisp refreshing bite. With the apples pressed, fermented and distilled twice onsite, the spirit is blended with seven botanicals (juniper, coriander, lemon, orange, iris, angelica and mace) - offering a gin that is a natural extension to the Healeys existing portfolio.

Joe Healey, Commercial Director says: “True to our roots this isn’t just another gin. We have Cornwall’s oldest distillery onsite and have won multiple awards for our brandy and whiskies, so we were confident we could create something special.

“We saw an opportunity to inject some fun into the gin market and Rattler is the brand to do this, while ensuring the exceptional quality and craftmanship for which we are renowned.”

Although this is Healeys first gin, the family is no stranger to producing award-winning spirits and 2020 marks two decades of distilling at the farm; the anniversary of its first brandy. Most notably, the farm has been responsible in creating England’s oldest whiskey which was released to critical acclaim.

The range, available from February 2020 will include Rattler Cornish Dry Gin and Rattler Cornish Pink Gin. Rattler Cornish Pink Gin is infused with raspberries for a fruity twist to tickle the taste buds. It will be available from Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, online at www.healeyscyder.co.uk, and at local shops, pubs, bars and hotels.

Rattler Dry Gin is perfect with a good quality tonic and a slice of lemon, or to add another fruity layer pair with Healeys new sparkling Avalade range.  Rattler Pink is ideal with Avalade ‘Rose Lemonade’ and a raspberry or blueberry garnish.

Open to the public, Healeys Cyder Farm offers guided tours, great home cooked food and a perfect day out for the whole family.  There is an array of guided tour options available throughout 2020, and to celebrate the launch of Rattler Gin, the farm will be offering a bespoke distillery tour with tastings in the farm cellars.

The Rattler spirits range, which already includes Rattler Brandy, will be growing throughout the year, with the launch of Rattler Rum at Easter. Watch this space!

We saw an opportunity to inject some fun into the gin market and Rattler is the brand to do this, while ensuring the exceptional quality and craftmanship for which we are renowned.
