Webinar highlights how to unlock apprenticeship funding

By Cornwall Chamber of Commerce & CCB Training - 19th August 2020

At a time when businesses are faced with unprecedented challenges, apprenticeships are being promoted by the Government as a great way to support or grow an organisation.

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and CCB Training, the employer-facing arm of the Cornwall College Group (TCCG) are working in partnership to provide local businesses with the information and advice they need to upskill their teams for the new workplace.

Hosted by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce as part of their Business Support Agenda, interactive webinar ‘Why now is a great time to take on an apprentice’ will take place on Tuesday 1st September 11am – 11.30am.

“The COVID-19 crisis is a catalyst for change in so many aspects of business, disruptive and worrying to business owners and their colleagues alike,” stated Kim Conchie, CEO of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

“We have to try and use this catalyst to think how we might change our own work patterns and aspirations. These new Apprenticeship schemes supported by CCB Training and TCCG are a really reassuring way that employers can readjust the skills they need in their team for the future and to offer some comfort to individuals that this is a moment to look at upskilling for the new workplace, supported by the knowledgeable and caring team at CCB.”

The webinar is designed to update employers on apprenticeship funding, how to access it on the new DAS system and explain why this system has come in. With the recent Government grants CCB will explain how to access these, how much you will receive and any eligibility criteria.

In recent statements the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson said to the nation that young people “should be guaranteed an apprenticeship” as part of the countries recovery from Covid-19.

“The support from the Government in looking at guaranteeing apprenticeships is a positive move,” commented Gareth Kenward, Head of Business Engagement at CCB Training.

“There is a huge amount of information available around apprenticeships, access to funding through the Digital Account Service and the new Government incentives of up to £3000, all of which may seem a little daunting or confusing, especially at a time when there are so many other considerations to be made.

“We can support employers of all sizes to navigate the world of apprenticeships and let you reap the rewards that an apprentice can bring,” he added.

TCCG has a new, highly experienced leadership team in place with a focus on quality across its training and education provision.
