Cornwall business represented at Downing Street event

By The Natural Fibre Company - 22nd April 2024

CEO and owner, Colin Spencer Halsey was invited to represent The Natural Fibre Company, a specialist woollen mill based in Launceston, at a Department for Business and Trade manufacturing matchmaking event.

The industry event, on 17 April, introducing British fashion and retail businesses with UK-based manufacturers and suppliers, was hosted at No.10 Downing Street by the Prime Minister’s wife, Akshata Murty and was organised by Libby Hart, founder of British womenswear brand, Libby of London and Anya Hindmarch of luxury accessories brand, Anya Hindmarch.

Colin says: “I was very proud to represent The Natural Fibre Company at the Department of Business and Trade event. It was a unique opportunity for British manufacturers to meet premium retailers from the UK Fashion Industry. For The Natural Fibre Company, it provided us with a platform to meet potential new clients and to meet up with existing clients within the centre of Government.”

Colin had the pleasure of showing Akshata Murty, businesswoman and wife of the Prime Minister, the quality of the yarns and the range of manufactured products using 100% British wool, as well as research and development prototypes made with recycled materials.

The South-west based textile manufacturing business, established in 2005, is passionate about transforming raw fleece into beautiful, high-quality yarn for knitting, crochet, weaving or machine knitting, and has an impressive portfolio of premium brand clients including luxury knitwear company, John Smedley and Scottish premium textile brand, Araminta Campbell. The business provides a range of fibre processing services including sourcing the fibre, scouring, carding, woollen and worsted spinning and finishing, all taking place under one roof in Launceston, with sustainability, traceability, and provenance integral to the company’s activities and core values.
