How we've helped Cornwall Waste Care

Growth Hub case study

Business overview

Charles’s career has been spent in the corporate world and he was tired of spending time away from his home in Newquay in nameless hotels. Looking for a new challenge to bring his professional experience; in 2019 Charles made the leap to set up his own business Cornwall Waste Care.

Their main operation is collecting waste from holiday homes across the County. The selling point is collecting waste on the guest’s departure day so the next visitors can arrive to a nice fresh home for the week. Which means Charles and his team have a very busy Friday and Saturday for changeover days!

Charles is proud to offer sustainable options for the waste which is recycled where possible and the rest goes to energy recovery to turn into green electricity. Even the remaining ash gets filtered for scrap metal with the remaining material turned into aggregate for roads.

Having the sanity check for my business was great!

How we helped

Charles came across the Growth Hub and thought he would get in touch for a fresh pair of eyes on his operations. For all his experience in business, he isn’t afraid to check in and learn new things.

After a good chat with Connector Matt, an area that might need some work compared to his competitors was his website. So, Charles was pointed in the direction of website training. Armed with knowledge from the course, Charles decided the best use of his time was to outsource this to a professional and spend his precious resource on building his client base.
