Double gold win for Barefoot Media

A Cornish PR and marketing agency won two gold awards at 2019’s South of England and Channel Islands PRide Awards.

Barefoot Media was awarded gold for Best travel, leisure or tourism campaign; and gold for Best integrated campaign at a black tie ceremony held in Bristol on 8 November. The awards recognised Barefoot’s involvement in Be the Business’ Hospitality Hacks campaign, which involved devising the concept for, promoting and delivering an awards scheme to increase productivity within Cornwall’s hospitality sector.

Shanni Elcock, alumni lead at not-for-profit Be the Business, said; “It was a pleasure to work on the Hospitality Hacks campaign with Barefoot Media, which was selected due to its experience of delivering campaigns for food, drink and tourism brands across the region, and its customer-led approach to conceptualising our campaign.

“By working together as a unit, we were able to surpass some challenging objectives, and successfully provide Be the Business with greater visibility in Cornwall.”

Organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the South of England and Channel Islands PRide Awards is open to agencies and in-house teams based in 13 counties, spanning Cornwall to Kent, taking in Bristol, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Wight.

The awards were judged by leading PR experts, and celebrated the outstanding public relations and digital marketing work achieved across the UK’s regions.

The judges said; “This campaign tackled an important issue impacting on the region’s tourism economy. At its heart was a creative concept to share industry best practice which had been researched and tested for its resonance with target user groups.

“Barefoot Media delivered excellent results and exceeded business objectives to recruit to a leaders’ network and action learner groups.”

Founded in 2002 by Jim and Ellie Michell, Barefoot was the only Cornish consultancy to be shortlisted at 2019’s CIPR PRide Awards. It is one of the region’s most decorated agencies, having won 20 industry awards since 2010.
