Sharp’s Brewery launches Paul Ainsworth beer collaboration and the UK’s first ever Silent Bistro

By Sharp’s Brewery - 08th July 2019

Rock-based Sharp’s Brewery brought the taste of Cornwall to the Taste of London event last month with a line-up of exciting activity, including the launch of a brand new limited edition beer collaboration with Michelin starred chef and local celebrity Paul Ainsworth.

This one-off brew, ‘Snags and Steam’, is a US style steam beer, with the speciality ingredients of orange and mustard providing a citrus note and sweetness, complemented by a very subtle spice. It’s the perfect beer for adventurous foodies this summer. ‘Snags and Steam’ is designed to pair perfectly with Paul’s ‘Hunter’s Snags’, a delicious sausage dish glazed in marmalade and Pommery mustard, currently served at The Mariners in Rock, and the inspiration behind the beer’s unique name.

The limited-edition brew will be available exclusively at The Mariners from now until stocks last, and was also on tap at Taste of London between 19th – 23rd June 2019 in Regents Park where thousands of revellers indulged in some of the best food & drink the UK has on offer.

At 5.3% ABV, ‘Snags and Steam’ combines high end speciality malts to create a smooth body. The steam yeast provides a clean and light taste and aroma, with a higher carbonation. The speciality ingredients of orange and mustard provide a citrus note and sweetness complemented by a very subtle spice, making it so compatible with Hunter’s Snags.

It was the 4th year that Sharp’s Brewery, the award-winning brewer of the UK’s number one cask beer, Doom Bar, had a presence at Taste of London. Other Sharp’s Brewery activities at Taste this year included the launch of the UK’s first ever Silent Bistro and the Sharp’s Secret VIP Bar Experience.

The Silent Bistro was a unique 18-seater open-air dining experience, pairing beer and food to music through headphones. Alongside the traditional food pairing, diners received expert commentary from chef Zack Hawke and beer sommelier Ed Hughes to draw out the flavour cues and tasting notes of each course.

Visitors with VIP Taste of London tickets were invited to seek out a different, one-of-a-kind beer and food experience by searching for the Sharp’s infamous Secret Bar. The repurposed shipping container hid a secret entrance, with an incredible taste experience inside that only a handful of people were able to try.
